METSeminarsUSA offers the credentials: Certified Manual Exercise Therapist (CMET). Traditionally, Medical Exercise Therapy has always been provided in conjunction with manual therapy. The scientific literature now greatly supports the view that for many musculo-skeletal conditions the combination of manual therapy and exercise produces greater improvements in pain, impairment, function, quality of life and patient satisfaction. The M.E.T. METhodology promotes the utilization of manual therapy but does not promote a specific manual therapy school. The M.E.T. METhodology promotes an alignment of the administered manual therapy intervention and the design of the follow-up therapeutic exercise.
After completing and passing post-course tests for Level 1: Fundamentals and Level 2: Upper Quadrant, Lower Quadrant and Spine courses, candidates may participate in the Level III certification exam.

Sample Questions:
A Clinical Fatigue Test is considered “invalid” when the test is stopped due to: a. An increased movement speed b. A decreased movement speed c. A change in movement pattern due to local muscular fatigue d. An increased pain level You have performed a manual therapy technique to improve right shoulder flexion. You follow up with a mobilization exercise supine for shoulder flexion using internal force to create the movement and an arthro-kinematic set-up. The result of your Clinical Fatigue Test (CFT) is 50 repetitions with 2.0 kg. The appropriate initial dose for this exercise is: a. 40 reps; 1.8 kg; 3 sets; 30-45 sec rest b. 40 reps; 2.0 kg; 3 sets; 30-45 sec rest c. 50 reps; 1.8 kg; 3 sets; 30-45 sec rest d. 50 reps; 2.0 kg; 3 sets; 30-45 sec rest |
Level lll - Certification Exam
Requirements
Certification exam consist of three parts:
Part 1: Submission of 3 Case Studies
Case Studies: Upper Extremity, Lower Extremity and Spine
Case studies need to be submitted at least 3 months prior to sitting for the certification exam
Each case study should be a detailed description of the management of a clinical case and include:
a. Background
b. Case Description
c. Outcomes
d. Discussion
Special attention is given to the rationale for exercise selection, design, dosing and progression (therapeutic exercise format)
Case studies need to be presented in the “Full" Traditional Case Report format: http://ptjournal.apta.org/site/misc/ifora.xhtml
Each case study will require a passing grade of 80%
Case Studies will be graded using the following rubric:
- Successful completion of all level l and level ll courses
- Successful completion of all level l and level ll theoretical and practical exams with a passing grade of 80% for each theoretical and practical combined.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate 3 interventions, one for each region of the body. Each intervention may include:
- A manual therapy intervention, if appropriate. The type of manual therapy intervention is at the discretion of the candidate. The exercise selection/design needs to match the manual therapy intervention.
- Perform isometric HHD strength test as needed.
